Enrollment Information for Non-Wayne State students

If you’re not a student at Wayne State, there are still a few ways for you to enroll in the course.

Ashesi students can enroll in the course through Ashesi.  More information should be available through the Provost’s office and the Office of Diversity and International Programmes as part of the summer course schedule.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Undergraduate students enrolled at another institution of higher education can join the class by applying to Wayne State as a “guest student”.  To qualify as a guest student you must:

  • be currently enrolled as a student at another college or university.
  • have already completed at least 12 credits at your current institution.
  • have a minimum 2.0 GPA at your current institution.
  • be in good standing with your institution and eligible to return after completing courses at WSU.

This requires a little bit of work, so if you’re interested, you should start working on this now.  Requirements include:

  • Filling out and submitting either a university application or the Common Application.
  • Sending a copy of all of your transcripts to:
    • Office of Undergraduate Admissions
      Wayne State University
      P.O. Box 02759
      Detroit, MI 48202

Admission occurs on a rolling basis each semester prior to the beginning of classes.  You should receive an admission decision 2-3 weeks after your application is completed.  Once you’ve been admitted, you can review and register for classes. Find more information here (including information and deadlines for international students):  https://wayne.edu/admissions/guest/

Please note:  if you’re interested in the course, please note that there is an additional application for the course, which must be approved before you are allowed to register.

Exceptions:  If you are a student at a college or university that already has a partnership with Ashesi University, you might be able to enroll directly through Ashesi.  Denison University students should speak to Sue Davis, Director of Off-Campus Study, about participation in the program.  For students at Coe College, Macalester College, Swarthmore College, Wheaton College, and the College of Wooster:  please speak to your director of international programs, admissions, and/or study abroad and encourage them to contact me if they need additional information.

Graduate students enrolled at another Michigan University should be able to enroll in the course through the Michigan Intercollegiate Graduate Studies (MIGS) program.  If you have questions, please contact the Director of Graduate Admissions at your university.  If you are interested in the course, please do let me know as soon as possible, as we will need to create a graduate course number.

Students who have graduated from college can enroll in the course as a post-baccalaureate student.  Like guest student status, students must:

  • submit an application.
  • send proof of your Bachelor’s degree to:
    • Office of Undergraduate Admissions
      Wayne State University
      P.O. Box 02759
      Detroit, MI 48202

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis each semester prior to the start of classes.

International students must fulfill English proficiency requirements.  There are specific deadlines for international student applications.

Find more information here:  https://wayne.edu/admissions/postbac/deadlines/

Again, please note that enrollment in this course also requires an additional application, which must be approved before you register.

Students in Ghana who do not attend Ashesi can either apply to Wayne State as a guest student (see above), or you can contact Ashesi University directly to see if they can work with you to enroll.
